Perspective...

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return home from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"

'It was great, Dad '

"Did you see how poor people live?" The father asked.

"Oh yeah," said the son.

"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.

The son answered:

I saw that we have one dog and they had four.

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.

We have imported lanterns in our garden and
they have the stars at night.

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.

We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.

We buy our food, but they grow theirs.

We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.'

The boy's father was speechless.

Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."

Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.

Here is my little two cents about perspective. Look at the following picture first...

At first glance, I noticed a young lady looking over her right shoulder with a scarf on her hair. Then when I looked closer, the chin of the young lady turned into the nose of an old lady with a scarf on her hair. Isn't funny how we as humans have different perspectives about certain things. However we assume every one's perspective to be the same as ours. It still amazes me how we all contain the ability to have our own perspectives and hypothesis on specific items, objects or beings that do not change its form. This could be either destructive or be one of the greatest powers we possess. Now that I think about it more, I sit back and think about how many times I have made the mistake of lecturing my kids for not listening or doing something they did not know was wrong at the time or did not understand. I really need to remember that though something may seem clear to me, others might see it differently. I too need to take this into my daily life. I shouldn't assume! Just know!!LOL! I don't know where I am getting at with this or if it even makes sense cause I have been deprived of sleep for the last 48 hours. So when I wake up I will revise this post!! Just wanted to start it so that I don't forget to write about it!!:D

The story is inspiring. It took a minute and blurring my vision to see the old woman.

And ~ I think when we try to see things from others' perspective it helps us be more understanding to difference.

That was a great share. Thanks cousin!

That is such a beautiful almost tear jerker story. I have never heard it. Thanks for sharing that, I needed it. It's funny how some people can see both the old and young lady and some can only see one. Usually the first imagine you see is the one that will remain in your head. That's why porn and R rated movies are so dangerous. The negative images are hard to erase from your memory once it's been captured. Just something I learned at our New Beginnings. But thanks again for sharing.

Great post sis! Everyone has different perspectives on many things, and I even lose sight of that! I'm so quick to see things only from my point of view. So thanks for reminding me to think of all the little people out there, who have feelings too! Lol Totally kidding, you know what I mean! Ha ha Love ya!
